How Does Enalysis Work?

Learn how Enalysis combines compressor specific models, operating data, thermodynamic principles, and proprietary algorithms to generate compressor performance and health reports.

Enalysis combines a software model of each compressor with actual operating data to evaluate compressor performance and health. The platform uses thermodynamic principles and proprietary algorithms to turn measured operating information into calculated performance and health information that can be reviewed in an Enalysis report.

Because the software model is specific to the individual compressor, Enalysis can evaluate the machine based on its configuration and operating conditions rather than treating every compressor the same.

How does Enalysis work?

  1. Create the compressor model: Each compressor enrolled in Enalysis is audited by a Detechtion engineer. Information collected about the compressor is used to create a software model specific to that machine.
  2. Collect operating data: Enalysis uses monitored compressor operating data such as pressures, temperatures, speed, and other available field information.
  3. Send the data to Enalysis: Compressor data can be entered directly in Enalysis. Depending on the customer setup, field data may also be submitted through Fieldlink or received through automated data reporting when the required telemetry is available.
  4. Analyze the operating conditions: Enalysis applies the compressor model, thermodynamic principles, and proprietary algorithms to the operating data.
  5. Generate an Enalysis report: The report combines measured operating data with calculated variables to quantify compressor performance and health at a specific point in time.
  6. Review values and trends over time: Looking at individual values and how they change across reports can support compressor configuration decisions and help determine when maintenance on wearing components may be needed.

              What information goes into Enalysis?

The operating information used by Enalysis depends on the compressor type and the customer setup. Common examples include:

              • Suction and discharge pressures
              • Suction and discharge temperatures
              • Compressor speed
              • Compressor configuration information
              • Other available field or monitored operating data
              • Direct Enalysis data entry: Users can select an asset and enter compressor, driver, or downtime data in Enalysis.
              • Fieldlink: Customers can use Fieldlink for field data collection, including in locations with limited mobile service. Data entered while offline can be synchronized when connectivity is available.
              • Automated reporting: Enalysis can accept automated field data reports through FTP file delivery when the required data points are monitored through digital telemetry.
              • Power for compression used
              • Total power used
              • Driver power utilization
              • Compressor capacity utilization
              • Incremental production possible

The specific required data differs for reciprocating and rotary screw compressors. Accurate and consistent field data is important because it provides the operating information Enalysis uses to generate reports and evaluate compressor performance.

How can operating data get into Enalysis?

Depending on the customer environment, operating data may be provided in several ways:

The available data collection method depends on your organization's setup and compressor monitoring infrastructure.

                              What does Enalysis calculate?

Enalysis combines the measured operating data with calculated process variables. Examples of calculations available across compressor types include:

Additional calculations are available for reciprocating and rotary screw compressors. These compressor specific KPIs are covered in separate knowledge base articles.

What happens after a report is generated?

After field data is completed, an Enalysis report can be generated and viewed online. An email summary may also be sent to users based on the email notification preferences configured in their Enalysis user profile.

The report provides a snapshot of compressor performance and health for that operating point. Comparing reports over time can help users understand how operating conditions and calculated KPIs are changing.

                                        Why are trends important?

A single Enalysis report shows the compressor at a specific point in time. Reviewing how measured and calculated variables change over time can provide additional context for configuration changes, optimization decisions, and maintenance planning.
