How to Review Trends and Historical Enalysis Reports

Learn how to use Enalysis trends and historical reports to compare compressor performance over time, investigate flagged values, and review earlier operating conditions.

Enalysis stores reports and trend information so you can compare compressor performance over time instead of reviewing only the latest operating point. Historical information can help provide context when a value changes, a warning appears, or you want to understand whether a condition is new, persistent, or improving.

Why should I review trends and historical reports?

An individual Enalysis report represents compressor health and performance at a specific point in time. Reviewing how measured and calculated values change across reports can provide additional context for operating decisions, configuration changes, optimization, and maintenance planning.

A trend can also help distinguish a one time value from a condition that is developing or continuing over multiple reports.

How do I open historical Enalysis reports?

From the Enalysis Reports view for a selected asset, you can review the latest report and move through earlier report history.

1. Log in to Enalysis and search for the compressor you want to review.

2. Open the selected asset and navigate to Enalysis Reports.

3. Open the latest Enalysis report.

4. Use the previous or next report controls to move between adjacent reports.

5. To open a much earlier report, select the report from the trend window.

What is the difference between a report and a trend?

An Enalysis report provides the detailed diagnostic information calculated for one reporting point. A trend shows how one or more values have changed across multiple reporting points.

Use a report when you need the detailed operating and calculated information for a specific date. Use a trend when you want to understand how a condition has developed over time or compare related values.

Where can I access trends in Enalysis?

The navigation guidance identifies several places where trend information can be accessed, depending on what you are reviewing:

  • Vital Signs provides access to trends relevant to the selected asset’s performance.
  • The Blowby fleet view can generate a trend for a cylinder showing the last year of Blowby, temperature rise, and compression ratio.
  • The Blowby view also allows users to trend Blowby across stages and throws.
  • The Flagged fleet view allows users to trend a value that is currently flagging.
  • The Enalysis Reports view includes a trend window that can be used to select an earlier report.

How should I review a trend?

When reviewing a trend, focus on the direction and timing of the change rather than a single point by itself.

1. Confirm which compressor, cylinder, stage, or calculated value you are reviewing.

2. Look for values that are increasing, decreasing, or changing more quickly than they did previously.

3. Compare the timing of the change with operating conditions, configuration changes, maintenance, or field observations when that information is available.

4. Open the corresponding historical reports when you need the detailed operating data behind a point on the trend.

5. Review related values together when the relationship provides useful context.

6. Contact your Detechtion Engineering Account Manager when a trend is difficult to interpret or suggests a condition that may require additional investigation.

Why can related trends be useful?

Some compressor conditions are easier to interpret when related values are reviewed together. For example, the Enalysis Blowby view can trend Blowby together with temperature rise and compression ratio for a cylinder. This allows the user to see whether changes in the calculated Blowby occurred alongside changes in other operating conditions.

The reciprocating compressor training also uses trend examples to show how monitoring Blowby over time can help identify developing valve concerns and how comparing Blowby with compression ratio can provide additional diagnostic context.

When should I open an earlier report?

Open an earlier Enalysis report when you need more detail than the trend alone provides. This may be useful when you want to compare the operating data before and after a change, review what conditions were present when a warning first appeared, or understand the detailed values behind an older trend point.

What should I keep in mind when comparing reports?

  • Confirm that you are comparing the same asset and the appropriate cylinder or compressor measurement.
  • Remember that operating conditions can change between reports, including pressure, temperature, speed, flow, and compressor configuration.
  • Verify the field data when a historical value appears inconsistent with the surrounding trend.
  • Use trends and historical reports as supporting information rather than relying on a single calculated value to make a compressor change.
