How to Use Root Cause Analysis in OneView
Learn how to use Root Cause Analysis to review shutdown events, recent alarms, downtime history, measurements, and AI assisted analysis for a compressor.
Root Cause Analysis is an Asset Detail workspace for investigating a specific compressor shutdown. It brings together shutdown history, recent alarms, recent downtime, surrounding measurements, and an AI assisted analysis tool.
Open Root Cause Analysis
1. Open the compressor's Asset Detail page.
2. Select Root Cause Analysis.
3. Choose a shutdown event from the Shutdown Events list.
Review the Supporting Information
After selecting a shutdown, OneView can show recent context including:
- Alarm History from the 30 days before the selected shutdown
- Downtime History from the 30 days before the selected shutdown
- Measurements around the shutdown time
Use Explain This Shutdown
Once a shutdown is selected, use Explain this shutdown to request an AI generated summary of the event. The tool is designed to provide a likely explanation and recommended next steps based on the data available in OneView.
Review Raw Measurements
Use the Measurements panel and its time controls to review sensor readings around the shutdown. This is useful when you want to validate the AI summary or investigate specific operating conditions.
Use Root Cause Analysis as an Investigation Aid
The analysis should support your investigation, not replace operational judgment or established troubleshooting procedures.
