Understanding Alarms & Notifications

Learn how Enbase tracks alarm events, delivers notifications, and helps users monitor the health and status of their assets.

Overview

The Enbase Dashboard helps users monitor the operational health of their assets by tracking alarms, shutdown events, and equipment status. When the system detects a monitored condition, it records the event and can notify the appropriate users based on their notification preferences and permissions.

By reviewing alarms and notifications, users can quickly identify issues, understand what occurred, determine when the event happened, and take the appropriate action.

How Alarms Work

Alarms are generated when a monitored condition or configured threshold is detected by the Enbase Hub. Once the event is transmitted to the Enbase Dashboard, it becomes available for viewing, troubleshooting, and historical reporting.

Depending on your organization's configuration, alarms may indicate:

  • Equipment operating outside normal limits
  • Warning conditions
  • Critical shutdown events
  • Changes in unit operating status

          Notifications

When an alarm is generated, Enbase can notify users through one or more configured notification methods.

Depending on your user profile and organization settings, notifications may be delivered through:

          • Email
          • SMS/Text Message
          • Push notifications through the Enbase mobile application

The alarms you receive are determined by your assigned assets, user permissions, notification preferences, and configured alarm receive types.

                Viewing Alarm Information

The Enbase Dashboard provides several ways to review alarm information, including:

                • Active Alarms
                • Alarm History
                • Offline / Run Status History
                • Equipment Status
                • Downtime Events

Together, these views provide a complete picture of what occurred, when it happened, and how long the condition lasted.

                          Alarm Lifecycle

A typical alarm follows this process:

                          1. A monitored condition occurs.
                          2. The Enbase Hub detects the event.
                          3. The event is transmitted to the Enbase Dashboard.
                          4. The alarm is recorded and displayed.
                          5. Notifications are sent to configured users, if applicable.
                          6. The condition is resolved and becomes part of the alarm history.

                                      Best Practices

                                      • Review active alarms regularly.
                                      • Investigate recurring alarms to identify trends.
                                      • Use Alarm History and Offline History together when troubleshooting equipment.
                                      • Verify your notification preferences are configured correctly.
                                      • Contact your administrator if you are not receiving expected alarm notifications.
