Understanding Calculated Tags and Functions in Enbase
Learn the difference between a Calculated Tag and a Tag with a Function in Enbase and how Functions determine or transform Tag values.
Enbase Functions can be used in two primary ways: with a Calculated Tag or with a Tag that already receives a value from another data source.
Calculated Tag
For a Calculated Tag, the Tag value is determined entirely by the result returned by the selected Function. The Function can use other Tags or configured values as inputs to calculate the result.
Tag With a Function
A Tag can also receive a value from a source such as an I/O channel or external device and then use a Function to transform or scale that value before Enbase stores it.
Examples- Use Linear Scaler to apply a Gain and Offset to an incoming value.
- Use Setpoint Check to evaluate a value against a configured High or Low setpoint.
- Use Historical Total to calculate a total over a specified time span.
How a Function Is Applied
The desired Function is selected from the Function list and its defined inputs are then bound to the appropriate Tags or configured values.
When to Get Help
