Understanding Enbase Cellular Communications

Learn how cellular communication is used by the Enbase Hub for remote access and what to expect when cellular connectivity is limited.

Enbase Hubs equipped with a cellular modem can communicate remotely over the cellular network, allowing authorized users to access Hub Control Panel through the Enbase Dashboard.

What Does Cellular Connectivity Allow?

Depending on the Hub and deployment configuration, cellular connectivity can support:

  • Remote access to the Hub Control Panel through the Enbase Dashboard.
  • Remote administration and communication with Enbase services.
  • Over the air Hub updates when cellular connectivity is available.

Remote Access Through Enbase Dashboard

When a Hub is configured in Enbase Dashboard and has a remote communication path, authorized users can open a remote Hub Control Panel session.

Authenticated remote access is controlled by the Enbase Dashboard role and permissions assigned to the user.

What Happens If Cellular Connectivity Is Poor?

Poor cellular connectivity can interrupt remote access even when the Hub is still operating locally.

At the site, Hub Control Panel may still be available through an approved local Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection with the appropriate access and permissions.

Other Communication Options

Some installations may use an external Ethernet radio or satellite communication. Available options depend on the Hub hardware and deployment.

Contact Enbase Support if remote communication is unavailable, cellular signal remains poor, or you need help confirming the communication method configured for the asset.
