Understanding Guest vs. Authenticated Access to an Enbase Hub
Learn the difference between Guest and authenticated Enbase Hub access, including read only Guest access and role based permissions for authenticated users.
The Enbase Hub Control Panel supports different login methods depending on what you need to do and what permissions have been assigned to your Enbase Dashboard account.
Guest Access
Guest access is intended for users who need to view information without changing the Hub configuration.
To use Guest access, select Login as Guest from the Hub Control Panel login screen.
When logged in as a Guest:
- Access is read only.
- You can view Hub configuration and monitoring information.
- You cannot change the Hub configuration.
Guest access can be useful when a customer or field user needs to inspect Hub information but does not have an Enbase Dashboard role that permits authenticated Hub access.
Authenticated Access
Authenticated access uses your Enbase Dashboard account and grants access according to the role and permissions assigned to you by your Dashboard administrator.
Having Enbase Dashboard credentials does not automatically mean you can make changes to every Hub. Your available actions are determined by your assigned permissions.
Authenticated Access With Internet Connectivity
When internet connectivity is available, you can sign in using your Enbase Dashboard username and password. The Hub requests authorization and grants access according to your permissions.
Authenticated Access Without Internet Connectivity
If you know you will not have internet connectivity, obtain a connection token before going to the field. The token allows the Hub to verify your authorized access when you connect locally.
Which Login Method Should I Use?
- Use Guest access when you only need to view Hub information.
- Use authenticated access when your work requires actions beyond read only viewing and your Enbase Dashboard role permits those actions.
- Prepare a connection token in advance when authenticated access is needed at a location without internet connectivity.
What If I Cannot Log In?
If you can connect locally to the Hub but cannot obtain authenticated access, verify that your Enbase Dashboard account has the proper role and permissions. If you believe your access should be allowed, contact your Dashboard administrator or Enbase Support.
