Understanding Static Rod Load Calculations in Enbase
Learn how Enbase Static Rod Load Functions estimate compression or tension rod load for non tandem and tandem compressor cylinders.
The Enbase Function Library includes Advanced Static Rod Load Functions for non tandem and tandem compressor cylinder configurations.
Important Safety Limitation
Static Rod Load values are approximate. They should not be used to program kills or safety shutdowns.
Available Static Rod Load Functions
- Static Rod Load (Non-Tandem)
- Static Rod Load (Tandem)
Information Used in the Calculation
Depending on the cylinder configuration, the calculation uses values such as suction pressure, discharge pressure, estimated pressure drops, cylinder diameter, piston rod diameter, cylinder action, elevation, and for tandem cylinders the applicable head end and crank end pressures and dimensions.
Calculation Type and Output
The calculation can be configured for Compression or Tension force. The Function returns a calculated rod load value.
When to Contact Enbase Support
Because rod load configuration depends on compressor geometry and process measurements, contact Enbase Support for assistance before relying on the calculation for operational decisions. Do not use Static Rod Load as a safety shutdown value.
