Understanding Tag Groups in OneView
Learn what Tag Groups are in OneView, how they organize Universal Descriptors, and why they make repeated measurement selection easier.
A Tag Group is a saved collection of Universal Descriptors. Tag Groups let you organize related measurements so you do not have to select the same set individually each time OneView references those measurements.
What Can a Tag Group Contain?
A Tag Group contains one or more Universal Descriptors. The group also has a required name and can include an optional description.
Why Use Tag Groups?
- Keep related measurements organized
- Reuse the same measurement set
- Make large lists easier to manage
- Create clear groupings for operational or analytical purposes
Tag Groups Do Not Change Measurement Data
A Tag Group is only a saved grouping. Creating, editing, or deleting a group does not change or delete the underlying measurement data referenced by the Universal Descriptors.
Good Naming Practices
Use specific names that will still be clear months later. Add a description when the purpose of the group is not obvious from the name alone.
