Understanding the Linear Scaler Function in Enbase

Learn how the Basic Linear Scaler Function transforms an Enbase input value using a Gain and Offset.

Linear Scaler is a Basic Enbase Function used to scale an input value using a Gain and Offset.

Function Inputs

  • Input Value, which is the value to scale
  • Gain, which is the multiplicative factor
  • Offset, which is the additive factor

Function Output

The Function returns the scaled Output Value. Conceptually, the result applies the Gain to the Input Value and then applies the Offset.

When Linear Scaling Is Useful

Linear scaling is useful when a raw or source value must be converted into the engineering range or representation needed by the Enbase Tag.

Linear Scaler vs. Linear Ramp Controller

Linear Scaler is a Basic transformation using Gain and Offset. Linear Ramp Controller is a separate Advanced Function that maps an input minimum and maximum to an output minimum and maximum and supports control features such as deadband and Manual or Auto mode.
