Understanding the OnScanError Function in Enbase
Learn how the Basic OnScanError Function returns a configured default value when an Enbase input has a Scan Error.
OnScanError is a Basic Enbase Function that determines what value should be returned when an input has a Scan Error.
How OnScanError Works
The Function uses two inputs: an Input Value and a Default Value.
- If the Input Value does not have a Scan Error, the Function returns the Input Value.
- If the Input Value has a Scan Error, the Function returns the configured Default Value.
What OnScanError Does Not Do
OnScanError determines the Function output when a Scan Error occurs. It does not correct the communication, device, or data source condition that caused the Scan Error.
Choosing a Default Value
The appropriate Default Value depends on how the result is being used. If the output affects monitoring or equipment logic, the selected value should be reviewed carefully.
When to Contact Enbase Support
Contact Enbase Support if Scan Errors are recurring, if you need help identifying the source of the error, or if OnScanError will be used in logic that can affect equipment behavior.
