What Is the Difference Between Offline and No Data in OneView?
Understand the difference between Offline and No Data in OneView and know which tools to use when a compressor appears down or stops reporting.
Offline and No Data both indicate that a compressor needs attention, but they describe different situations.
Offline
Offline means the monitoring device is communicating with OneView and reporting that the compressor is down.
No Data
No Data means the monitoring device itself is not reporting. Because OneView has not received current telemetry, the compressor's true operating state is unknown.
Example
If a technician confirms that a compressor is physically running but OneView shows No Data, that points to a telemetry or communications issue rather than proof of a mechanical shutdown.
What Should I Check for Offline?
- Open the asset's Asset Detail page
- Review Downtime Analysis
- Review the most recent fault information
- Use Root Cause Analysis when a shutdown event is available
- Review relevant measurements in Asset Vitals and Trends
What Should I Check for No Data?
- Open No Data Report
- Review Silent For
- Review Communications Availability
- Review the Severity rating
- Contact Support if the reporting gap continues
