What Is the Enbase Compressor Control Panel?

Learn what the Enbase Compressor Control Panel is, how it builds on the Enbase Hub, and the compressor monitoring, safety, startup, and control functions it can provide.

The Enbase Compressor Control Panel, also referred to as the Enbase Panel, uses the Enbase Hub as a compressor controller for reciprocating and screw natural gas compressors. It combines Enbase monitoring and telemetry capabilities with compressor specific control and safety functions.

What Does the Enbase Compressor Control Panel Include?

A typical Enbase Compressor Control Panel includes the Enbase Hub, Enbase Compressor Expansion I/O Module(s), a touch panel HMI, relays, terminal blocks, a panel power switch, and other supporting panel hardware. The exact configuration depends on the installation.

What Can the Enbase Compressor Control Panel Do?

Depending on the configured application, the Enbase Panel can support functions such as:

  • Compressor safety shutdowns
  • Class A, Class B, and Class C safety inputs
  • Local, remote, automatic, and standby startup behavior
  • Valve sequencing during startup and shutdown
  • Automatic or manual loading and unloading
  • Pre lube and post lube sequences
  • Driver startup and cooldown sequences
  • Engine and compressor monitoring
  • Integration with steady state control applications
  • Remote monitoring, administration, and configuration

How Does It Relate to the Enbase Hub?

The compressor controller functionality runs on top of the general purpose automation features of the Enbase Hub. This means customers may see both general Enbase terminology and compressor specific terminology in Hub Control Panel.

For example, compressor safety inputs use Class A, Class B, and Class C terminology to describe when an input becomes armed, while the general Hub uses Immediate, Timer, and Steady State terminology for similar alarm arming behavior.

How Is the Panel Configured?

The Enbase Panel is configured for the equipment and application it is intended to control. Inputs, safety shutdowns, timers, setpoints, and other control behavior should be validated before the panel is placed into service.

Because configuration changes can affect compressor operation and safety shutdown behavior, contact Enbase Support if you are unsure whether a setting should be changed.
